IPL 2020 officially delayed due to Corona Virus.
As per the current schedule 13 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will not start from march 29. The tournament is delayed till 15th April. The New IPL 2020 Schedule will be announced soon by BCCI.
Announcement Made By BCCI –
The BCCI (Board of control for cricket) stated: ” That they are worried and tense about all their stakeholders and public health as usual, and it is practicing all essential steps to assure that, all people associated with IPL including fans have a protected cricketing adventure.”
Also, the Board stated that ” they will participate carefully with the Government of India along with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and all other important Central and State Government authorities in this regard ”
On Thursday, The Times of India had published the same. On Friday office-bearers of the BCCI, headed by president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah, gathered at the board’s headquarters in Mumbai to attend the call. They were supported by their operations and logistics team in succeeding at the decision.
All the tournaments postponed because of Covid-19 –
But, with rising voices of concern given the heavy warning of Covid-19 at the time, the BCCI has found it reasonable to push the statement that the league cannot start as per the current schedule.
According to unknown sources “The delay will provide the BCCI to review that situation too. If the tournament can be continued from mid-April onwards, then there is time now to work on the visas.
At this time, if overseas players have to land in India to play in the IPL, their visas are either yet being prepared, pending for absence of required permissions, for a better understanding of current travel routes or being denied for now.
Remember, the IPL cannot be held without abroad players. That’s a situation every franchise will put on paper despite anything more”
In such a situation, the BCCI will have two things in mind:
- A) Modify the format of the league, like they have made in the past, to fit into a shorter window;
- B) Plan the league in 2 to 3 venues so that useless travel can be controlled.
There’s a chance to work that out now.
Certain states, Delhi for example, have previously stated that they will not support the hosting of IPL in the existing scenario. More states are expected to follow the action if the emergency continues.
The new schedule of Indian Premier League 2020 will be announced soon. As we know that because of covid-19 all the sports tournaments all over the globe is canceled or delayed.
